Following the martyrdom of Uthman (RA), the Khawārij intensified their propaganda campaign, disseminating captivating speeches across lands.
Their rhetoric convinced a large number of people to flock to their cause, as they keenly understood the challenges they would face, thus necessitating the garnering of more followers in order to sustain their policies.
Their propaganda was so potent and fruitful that twelve thousand men rallied to their banners in the Battle of Nahrawan.
Among the doctrines they preached were the following:
— It is obligatory upon people to disavow Uthman (RA) and express remorse for having recognized his caliphate.
— Everybody is eligible for the seat of the Caliph (and the seat isn’t confined to the Quraysh)
— In case a leader commits a sin, it becomes obligatory to depose and execute him.
— The right to judge rests solely with Allah.
This call of theirs persisted until the Battle of Siffin, where they stood alongside Ali (RA) in the form of a religious faction. Subsequently, they transform into a political faction, unsheathing their swords to sow discord within the Ummah.
